COMMENTARY

I Want To Be Shallow
Michael Bettencourt
Scene4 Magazine: Michael Bettencourt | www.scene4.com
I don't want to bring strange people to life in front of an audience. Characters on stage should be flat, like clothes in a fashion show: what you get is what you see.

Memorial Day - A Time To Love
A Time To Hate-redux
 Arthur Meiselman
Scene4 Magazine: Arthur Meiselman | www.scene4.com
The challenge of True Believers, of Fundamentalism, all Fundamentalism, Christian, Jewish, Islamic… is its mindless, degrading nostalgia for the "better" way that things were.

Suck that straw like you suck my dick. You didn't like that? Neither did I. The difference is that you only have to suffer it here, whereas I heard it every day for years, hurled directly into my face.

DANCE
TransMigration: Dancing The Extreme Vision

Santee Smith has entered a bolder, broader, and intensely dramatic theatrical world. Undertaking the subject of the work -  the art and spiritual/physical life of Norval Morriseau – would require entering that extreme world in which he lived.

ARTS OF THAILAND (Painting)
Peace In Mind

In 2002, Kasem Khaolaor offered a gift in the name of Thailand expressing condolence for the tragedy of 9/11. It was with the understanding that Thai people shared the grief with the American people.

The Artist As
A Young Queer

Growing up in southern New Jersey in the 1960's, I knew two things: I liked girls and I wanted to be a writer and poet.  I thought I was a mutant: I didn't know there were people like me in life or in books.

The Man Who Came to Dinner
At age 93, Christopher Blake claims to be the "last protégé of Gertrude Stein as a young GI in Paris." He says in 1945, he was "with Gertrude Stein and Alice B most every day for the better of a year till [he] quarreled with her.

Three Plays Without Words No.1: "The Street"

There are no words or props in this play. The actions of the performer are slightly slower and more exaggerated than in real life and become even slower as the play progresses. The scenes are enacted to the accompaniment of the suggested pieces of music, preferably performed live.
