From the Play "MARY M and THE MAD PROPHET"

In "MARY M and THE MAD PROPHET", that spans millennia from the Old World to the Biblical Time of Jesus to the Now - the Chorus of Rocks appear on stage as actors draped in white robes in the desert. The Chorus comments on the evolution of the ancient Double Goddess to two Mary Magdalenes - the Bride and Hor who live through Jesus's ministry and crucifixion.  The Double Goddess, depicted in pre-historic icons as two torsos on one set of legs, can be interpreted as dual aspects of the feminine - warrior-priestess, mother-daughter, earth-moon, menstruation-ovulation, life-death, and light and dark natural cycles that represent female sovereignty or 'Dual 'Queenship'.

My use of 'Hor' derives from Hathor, Egyptian Goddess of Music.  In Greece, women who worshipped Aphrodite were called 'Horae' and the Hebrew word for dance is 'Hora' -  the circle. This root word became 'whore" with its vulgar connotations.

(In the beginning, the Chorus of Rocks sit on desert sand near the River Jordan.  Mary the Bride and Mary the Hor, two redheads, sit in the Double Goddess pose on a throne backstage.)

CHORUS OF ROCKS

We are the Chorus
A congregation of stone
Here before time
Mirror of heaven
Portals of the Goddess
Mortar for Masons
Engraved with spirals

Throne of the Magdala

In the days before
Came silent footsteps
She
Mother of Heaven
Earth, Oceans
Wearing veils of clouds
Mother of all life
Forgotten

(MARY the BRIDE walks along the River Jordan.)

In the days before
She walked desert lands
Worshipped
Mother of All
Given names
By peoples of the sand
Her names faded
Worn smooth
By sand winds
Her names coupled
With demons
In men's myths
She
A Hidden Goddess

(MARY the HOR follows her sister.)

Hor was Hathor
Egyptian Goddess of music
When men destroyed the Goddess
The Whore replaced the Priestess

Hathor's sacred servant
Dancer of Fertility - Dancer of the Mysteries

(The two MARYS dance in a ritual circle with the CHORUS.)

Warrior - Preacher-  Priestess - Hor
The days before - the Two were One

Mary go round -  go round
The double wheel
The double axes
At your heels

Mary go round - go round
The night - Winter Moon
Dance to Darkness
Dance to light -  Summer Moon
Mary go round - go round
The Sun
The wheel of light
Mary go round - go round
North South East West
The pole - the axis
Forged in the Earth
Calls for Mary's rebirth
