Dead Air

Our broadcast
is only static now --
lost scripts,
dropped mics.
The villain growls
like the devil chomping
on a rack of ribs.
The damsel, ambushed,
whimpers like a cornered
kitten. The prince,
a well-bred young man,
knows his lines. He’s
well-trained in the art
of rescue. He loves
an audience. His
valor fades into dead air.
